Cronin Engineering were great. Professional enquiry process sent one evening and I got a follow up call the next morning. Alex took my details and confirmed everything professionally and politely then Scott contacted to come and do the inspection the next week, which was my earliest availability. Alex called a day or 2 before the appointment to confirm and Scott arrived exactly when he said he would. He asked very relevant questions then got on with the survey and gave me a verbal report before he left, and it was followed up by a written report.

When some concerning cracks appeared in my house, I originally had one of those “free” inspections from a foundation repair company, where they tried to hard-sell me on some expensive work. Before spending that kind of money, I decided to get a professional structural engineer inspection to verify the first company’s claims. The inspector from Cronin came out, did a thorough inspection and set of measurements, and let me know the hard-sell solution from the foundation company was not needed. They did recommend some different repairs for other issues, but nothing as dramatic or expensive as the other company was pushing. (also their recommended repairs were the sort of thing that could be done by a general contractor, not something I’d be working directly with them to get done).

I trusted them more because their paid work was the inspection and recommendation. Also, they delivered straightforward analysis with no hard sell.

This experience taught me that it’s worth paying for a proper inspection from a structural engineer, rather than going with the “free” inspection from a company that will follow it up with a hard sell for one of their own products.“
